You wake up as a nameless cop in the middle of the city. Your past and identity are randomly generated. It's a 3rd person shooter with the likes of Resident Evil 4 and Ratchet Deadlocked rolled in to one game. It's aracady enough to be fun and fleshed out to the point where the sounds of reloading and firing are fantastic. Gun play is the key here! You also earn currency to upgrade weapons and learn new moves. You go up against many foes that don't really make a lot of sense at first. Aliens, robots, hellraiser styled daemons. The player begins to wonder that the game is all over the place, kind of reminding of Painkiller(arena FPS), where the context was not that important. You travel many beautiful real life locations from Venice to Japan and USA. Everything is modeled after real life locations with a side of game design including elevations and castles. The player travels through the game and begins to encounter different types of bugs. Minor saves not loading, characters spelling their names wrong, loading titles spelling different stuff. The player also starts to wonder that all of this is too weird to be explained in game with today's dramatic narrative. You travel from area to area, blasting enemies to the beats of wonderful industrial music mixed with metal. You defeat boss after boss who are the respected leaders of their factions. And right after you defeat the seemingly final leader, the games shows you the credits, and you can walk through the non-rendered part of the scene with all the NPC t posing. It's done in a non-creepy pasta way where you legitimately go through the game thinking that the developers were lazy. But then out of nowhere a gigantic Cthulhu like create appears. It is not compatible with the style of anything that you have seen so far. You try to fight it, only to realize that this creature works completely different from anything that you have seen before. The only option is escape. And you run through the game non-rendered areas escaping from it and the game finally says enough. It is revealed that an AI has been emulating your journey in order to search for the value of human life, it tried to create an exiting life filled with close calls and loss, so you will be just powerful enough not to think that the world is suspicious. It collects data on both the player and the character without breaking the 4th wall. The player is presented with statistics regarding playtime and favorite weapons. Furthermore, it is called “The State” and it uses a synthesized version of Tony Jay voice (the Elder God from Legacy of Kain). You can ask questions regarding why it concludes such research and if the thing in front you is a God? Throwing some shades toward the idea of Morpheus from Deus Ex. A perfect research machine that exists to understand human happiness and ways to create a personal heaven. The player is then presented with rebellion against such an idea or acceptance of the fact, and the offer to restart the game with a new character, so the research will go as planned. The rebellion option is a multi-stage boss fight that is very tough and in the end when you do defeat the AI there is no certainty that it was not just another research simulation. Rebellion against God does bring a lot of new feelings that need to studied.
